WHAT WE DO

Our vision: To transform lives through adapted movement

Our mission: To provide quality, adapted and integrated physical activity opportunities for Tamariki and Rangatahi with a disability.

We do this by providing specialised physical activities to suit the needs of each individual. Games, activities, equipment and rules are modified and adapted. We talk to our participants and whanau to work out what they enjoy and then we create the activities to suit their needs. Participants feel included, safe and also challenged to reach their potential.

We provide physical activity programs that are:

  • adapted to suit the individual's needs

  • develop physical skills

  • social interaction

  • aim to build confidence

  • provide leadership possibilities

Testimonials

James and Sumiko Walker

Parents of Finn Walker age 22

TIMA has been the biggest constant in his life (as well as school) and we appreciate all that you do for him!

Tracey Formosa (Parent)

Kaden age 16

“TIMA has provided an opportunity for my son to develop friendships and independence. Being able to attend a sports program, where he can feel success and gain physical skills has given him much needed confidence. His siblings are welcomed, this giving them an opportunity to learn empathy and compassion. My oldest daughter has trained to become a leader and my other children are excited to do the same!

TIMA is a community, Kaye’s leadership and inclusion models great skills for young people”

Lecia Kirita (Parent)

Connor age 8

“TIMA helps my son with social interaction and self confidence. I love watching him be successful in his body movement and growing coordination.

He is developing sporting techniques, listening, patience and teamwork, while balancing people, noise and learning. He experiences fun and success in an environment that is accepting of his uniqueness and differences.

He loves it and is proud to be a TIMA kid. Thanks Kaye Nordstrom.”
