Trumotion is a fresh initiative by founder Renee Billingsley, alongside Kaye Nordstrom, director of TIMA NZ Charitable Trust. We saw a gap for children of this age group being able to access a space for music, movement and physical activity through dance.

We work in a way which promotes uniqueness, creativity and community for parents and children and bends social norms through music, movement and dance.

Our approach challenges common stereotypes and misconceptions about the disability sector. Our kaupapa aims to challenge the prevailing views that rely on clichés and generalization about people with disabilities that are in today’s society.

We focus instead on:

• setting reasonable but still challenging expectations for individuals while still ensuring a fully accessible framework

• transparency in funding and pricing

• challenging perceived limitations of medical models

• supporting recovery and growth through movement, not purely for therapeutic purposes

• an inclusive program that also has room for adaptation

Classes

Our classes are open for children of ages 5-12 years of age and all abilities.

Classes build on our Students’ unique movements, individuality, creativity, thought, movement and dance.

We aim to create an environment with our students building connections, using physical movement, fun and creativity, encouraging community, friendship and inclusion.
